Tree Service in Gilbert, AZ
Gilbert's own ISA Certified Arborists, caring for local trees since 2016.
Gilbert is home for Heartwood Tree Care. Our crews live and work here, our trucks are parked here, and a good share of the trees we care for are within a few miles of our own front doors. When you call us about a tree in Gilbert, you are calling a neighbor who already knows the soil, the irrigation, the HOA rules and the way a July monsoon cell can roll across the East Valley in twenty minutes.

Gilbert Trees and the Problems We See Most
Gilbert sits on former farmland, and you can still see it in the older neighborhoods near the Heritage District, where some homes are on flood irrigation. Flood-irrigated trees often grow big, fast and shallow-rooted, which makes them more likely to lean or fail in a wind storm. In newer communities, the challenge is usually the opposite: young trees on drip lines that never get deep water and never develop strong roots.
Monsoon season runs from mid-June through September. The best defense is pruning before it starts: a properly thinned mesquite or palo verde lets wind pass through instead of acting like a sail.
Tree Care Services for Gilbert Homes and HOAs
Tree trimming and pruning. Most Gilbert yards were planted in the last 25 years, which means a lot of trees are now hitting the size where they need real structural work. We prune to ISA standards: thinning dense canopies so wind can pass through, raising low limbs off roofs, sidewalks and block walls, and removing dead or crossing branches. We never top trees. Topping looks tidy for one season and then creates weak regrowth that breaks in the next storm.
Tree removal. Some trees are simply in the wrong place: too close to the house, lifting a pool deck, or declining past the point of saving. We remove trees of every size in Gilbert, including large trees in tight backyards, and we leave the yard clean when we go.
Crane-assisted tree removal. Many Gilbert backyards have no side access wider than a gate, with a pool, pavers or a neighbor’s roof in the way. For large trees in those spots, a crane lets us lift sections up and over the house instead of dropping them, which protects your property and is often faster and safer.
Sissoo tree removal. Gilbert planted a lot of sissoo trees in the 2000s. They grow fast and look great for a while, then the roots start heading for pool plumbing, sewer lines and slabs. Removing a sissoo properly means dealing with the stump and roots so the tree does not sucker back from underground. We do this every week in Gilbert.
Stump grinding. We grind stumps below grade so you can plant, lay turf or put down rock, and we clean up the chips.
Storm cleanup. After a monsoon, we clear fallen trees and broken limbs, make hazardous trees safe, and help you figure out what can be saved.
Arborist consultations, fertilization and planting. If a tree is thinning, leaning, dropping leaves out of season or just does not look right, an ISA Certified Arborist can tell you why. We also offer deep root fertilization and help with choosing and planting the right tree for the spot.
Randy was good at explaining what he saw about the health of our trees and course of action. He also volunteered tips how to take care of some other trees on our property.
We had the bio-boost treatment to help a struggling ash tree and to also boost some orange trees that we planted last year. He was also a good natured and helpful person also volunteering some tips about care of our orange trees. The bio-boost is injected into the ground with a probe. Note: it may result in puncturing underground irrigation if unlucky. The probe poked a clean hole into our in-ground PVC irrigation lateral that I paid someone to come repair.
Another crew came to trim dead branches from our large tree and remove some stumps with a grinder. I thought they would just grind and leave holes. I was pleased that they cleaned up the debris, filled the holes, and covered with the surrounding gravel. Where there had been stumps, I could hardly tell there had been anything there before at all. Will was the crew's lead person who spoke with me during their time in our yard. I also found him to be good at explaining and I felt like he actually did care about the quality of work being done. I hope that Heartwood will reward him and the others who came with him.
