Tree Service in Phoenix, AZ
Tree care built for Phoenix heat and monsoons, led by an ISA Certified Arborist.
Phoenix is one of the hardest places in the country to be a tree. Summer highs regularly top 110 degrees, the city’s urban heat island keeps nights warm, rain is scarce for most of the year, and then the monsoon arrives with wind gusts strong enough to snap limbs and topple shallow-rooted trees. Trees that thrive here do so because someone takes good care of them.

Tree Care Built for Phoenix Conditions
Heat Stress and Sunscald
Overpruning in Phoenix can expose bark to intense sun and cause sunscald, which weakens limbs and invites pests. Our pruning keeps enough canopy to shade the trunk and major branches, and we schedule heavy work for cooler months whenever we can.
Monsoon Readiness
Dense canopies act like sails in a monsoon. Thinning reduces wind resistance and the risk of limb failure. Having desert trees thinned before mid-June is one of the best investments a Phoenix homeowner can make.
Mature and Historic Trees
Phoenix’s historic districts and older neighborhoods have some of the most impressive trees in the Valley: large pines, ash, elm, pecan, eucalyptus and decades-old citrus. Many neighborhoods, especially in central Phoenix and Arcadia, use flood irrigation, which grows big trees with shallow roots. These trees need experienced hands.
Common Tree Problems in Phoenix
- Large pines and eucalyptus dropping limbs in storms
- Citrus overpruned and sunburned
- Mesquites and palo verdes with heavy, dense canopies
- Ash and elm declining from age and heat stress
- Leaning trees on flood-irrigated lots
- Sissoo roots damaging pools and plumbing
Our Phoenix Tree Services
Tree trimming and pruning. Standards-based pruning to ISA guidelines: deadwood removal, canopy thinning, crown raising and clearance from roofs and structures. We never top trees.
Tree removal. Safe removal of dead, dangerous or unwanted trees, including large trees in tight urban lots.
Crane-assisted tree removal. For big trees with no clear drop zone, a crane lets us remove sections and lift them out over homes, pools and walls.
Stump grinding below grade, with cleanup.
Sissoo removal. Sissoo roots are a common cause of pool and plumbing damage across Phoenix. We remove the tree and address the stump and roots.
Storm damage cleanup. We clear fallen trees and broken limbs after monsoon storms and make damaged trees safe.
Arborist consultations. If a tree is declining, leaning or showing signs of disease, an ISA Certified Arborist can diagnose the problem and recommend next steps.
Fertilization and planting. Deep root fertilization for stressed trees and expert help choosing heat-tolerant trees for new plantings.
Randy was good at explaining what he saw about the health of our trees and course of action. He also volunteered tips how to take care of some other trees on our property.
We had the bio-boost treatment to help a struggling ash tree and to also boost some orange trees that we planted last year. He was also a good natured and helpful person also volunteering some tips about care of our orange trees. The bio-boost is injected into the ground with a probe. Note: it may result in puncturing underground irrigation if unlucky. The probe poked a clean hole into our in-ground PVC irrigation lateral that I paid someone to come repair.
Another crew came to trim dead branches from our large tree and remove some stumps with a grinder. I thought they would just grind and leave holes. I was pleased that they cleaned up the debris, filled the holes, and covered with the surrounding gravel. Where there had been stumps, I could hardly tell there had been anything there before at all. Will was the crew's lead person who spoke with me during their time in our yard. I also found him to be good at explaining and I felt like he actually did care about the quality of work being done. I hope that Heartwood will reward him and the others who came with him.
