What We Do
Our fertilizing service is built around the specific needs of desert-adapted and non-native trees growing in Arizona conditions. Every program starts with an assessment, not a one-size-fits-all application.
- Tree health assessments. We inspect leaf color, canopy density, new growth, and root zone conditions to identify nutrient deficiencies such as iron chlorosis, nitrogen shortages, and micronutrient gaps common in alkaline soil.
- Soil evaluation. We look at drainage, compaction, salt buildup, and pH so we can correct the soil, not just feed the tree.
- The right products at the right time. We use professional-grade fertilizers, slow-release formulations, and soil amendments matched to the species and applied during the seasons when trees can actually absorb them.
- Deep root feeding. Where appropriate, we inject nutrients directly into the root zone below the surface, where trees take them up most efficiently and where they will not run off or feed the weeds.
- Proper care for water conservation and healthy growth. We pair fertilizing with watering recommendations so your trees use water efficiently and put their energy into strong, sustainable growth.
We serve citrus, fruit trees, flowering ornamentals, shade trees, palms, and native species like mesquite, palo verde, and ironwood.

Randy was good at explaining what he saw about the health of our trees and course of action. He also volunteered tips how to take care of some other trees on our property.
We had the bio-boost treatment to help a struggling ash tree and to also boost some orange trees that we planted last year. He was also a good natured and helpful person also volunteering some tips about care of our orange trees. The bio-boost is injected into the ground with a probe. Note: it may result in puncturing underground irrigation if unlucky. The probe poked a clean hole into our in-ground PVC irrigation lateral that I paid someone to come repair.
Another crew came to trim dead branches from our large tree and remove some stumps with a grinder. I thought they would just grind and leave holes. I was pleased that they cleaned up the debris, filled the holes, and covered with the surrounding gravel. Where there had been stumps, I could hardly tell there had been anything there before at all. Will was the crew's lead person who spoke with me during their time in our yard. I also found him to be good at explaining and I felt like he actually did care about the quality of work being done. I hope that Heartwood will reward him and the others who came with him.

We have used Heartwood over the past years for numerous services. They are on time, do a thorough job, clean up my whole yard, are friendly and on time. Years ago they cut down our massive beloved pine tree that was dying. They were not only professional but it was fun to watch how the crew worked together and they truly enjoyed their work. We had a large ash tree in the corner of our backyard that was healthy and happy, but unfortunately had been planted too close to the neighboring properties, so large roots were getting close to a pool. I discussed our options at length with Randy, who was very helpful in walking through the advantages and disadvantages of options. The work (removal) was done well, with excellent cleanup and followup.
Had another great experience working with Heartwood on a project to remove some oleanders at my home. Randy did an excellent job assembling the bid. Brittani did a great job of communicating project related news. Day of the job, Randy and Casey arrived on time, did a fantastic job with the removal and left the site clean as a whistle.
