Tree Service in Mesa, AZ

Certified arborist care for Mesa's old shade trees, citrus and desert natives.

Mesa covers a lot of ground, and its trees reflect that. West Mesa has neighborhoods built in the 1960s, 70s and 80s with big, mature shade trees and old citrus. Northeast Mesa still carries the history of its citrus groves. Las Sendas and Red Mountain sit up against the desert foothills, with native mesquite, palo verde and ironwood. Southeast Mesa, around Eastmark and the Gateway area, is newer and growing fast. Heartwood Tree Care works across all of it.

Mesa’s Trees: Old, New and Native

Older Neighborhoods and Flood Irrigation

Parts of Mesa still use flood irrigation. Flood-irrigated trees tend to grow very large, very fast, with roots concentrated near the surface. That combination can lead to leaning trees, heavy limbs and failures when the ground is soaked and the wind picks up. Regular inspection and weight reduction pruning are especially important in these neighborhoods.

Citrus Heritage

Northeast Mesa’s citrus history lives on in many backyards. Citrus trees do best with light, selective pruning that keeps the canopy dense enough to shade the bark. Overpruning citrus can lead to sunburned limbs and reduced fruit.

Desert Foothill Properties

In Las Sendas, Red Mountain and the areas near the Usery Mountains, many lots feature native trees. Mesquite, palo verde and ironwood are well adapted to the desert, but they still need deadwood removal and structural pruning, and some native plants are protected under Arizona law. If a native tree needs to come out, we will tell you what is involved before we start.

New Communities

In Eastmark and other newer areas, young trees benefit most from early structural pruning, which sets up a strong framework and prevents splits later.

Tree Services for Mesa Properties

Tree trimming and pruning. Mesa’s mature trees need thoughtful, standards-based pruning: removing deadwood, reducing weight on long limbs, thinning dense canopies and clearing branches off roofs. We follow ISA pruning standards and do not top trees.

Tree removal. We safely remove dead, hazardous and unwanted trees of every size, including very large trees beside homes, garages and pools. Mesa’s older neighborhoods have plenty of trees that have simply outgrown their space.

Crane-assisted tree removal. When a large tree has no clear drop zone or sits in a backyard with tight access, we use a crane to lift sections out safely. It protects your home, your landscaping and your neighbor’s property.

Stump grinding. We grind stumps below grade and clean up, so you can replant or relandscape.

Sissoo removal. Sissoo trees are common in Mesa and notorious for root damage. We remove them and deal with the stump and roots to reduce regrowth.

Storm cleanup. Mesa takes some of the strongest monsoon winds in the Valley. We clear fallen trees and broken limbs and make damaged trees safe.

Arborist consultation and tree health. If a tree is thinning, dropping limbs, leaning or showing signs of disease, an ISA Certified Arborist will diagnose the problem. We also provide deep root fertilization and help with planting.
